Aurat (us)
Aurat, which means "women" in Urdu, is an innovative post-punk/darkwave band based in Los Angeles. Formed by Pakistani-American vocalist Azeka and producer Gil, the band takes an experimental approach by combining traditional South Asian sounds with darkwave, industrial, and post-punk influences. Singing in Urdu, Aurat aims to break cultural and emotional barriers through their unique sound, creating music that is universally relatable despite the language difference. Since expanding their lineup in 2019, Aurat has grown into a powerhouse, releasing a string of albums, including their latest LP Zeher in 2020.
Aurat’s groundbreaking sound will grace Grauzone for the first time, and we couldn't be more excited. Their intense, culturally rich performance is a must-see, guaranteed to bring something fresh and thought-provoking to the festival.
