Cold Gawd, the brainchild of California-based multi-instrumentalist Matt Wainwright, blends shoegaze and R&B in a storm of emotional, distorted sound. Their debut album, God Get Me The Fuck Out Of Here (2022), touched on themes of love, longing, and existential dread, while their 2024 follow-up, I’ll Drown On This Earth, brings even more cathartic energy. Known for mixing introspective lyrics with walls of swooning noise, Cold Gawd is pushing the boundaries of modern shoegaze.
