New Grauzone event! Riki & SRSQ
Grauzone Presents: SRSQ, Riki and DJ Graaf Drankula at Lynk & Co Amsterdam
With Grauzone Festival 2022 fast approaching in June, we’re happy to present you a free night full of synthpop in Amsterdam on Saturday May 21!
We've invited US artists SRSQ and Riki for the special occasion. For fans of ZYX Italo Disco, and classic new wave/pop like Kate Bush, and early Madonna. Both acts are signed onto the amazing US Dais Records. The LA label focuses on reviving the dark while maintaining a roster of emerging artists including Choir Boy, who will perform at Grauzone Festival 2022 and Drab Majesty who’ve played Grauzone in the past. Graaf Drankula aka Jordi Ariza Gallego is a long time Grauzone friend, DJ, queer icon and organiser of a.o. Fucking Pop Queers (FPQ).
LA label Dais Records affiliates SRSQ (pronounced seer-skew) is the solo project of Kennedy Ashlyn, also known as the vocalist/keyboardist of Them Are Us Too. Kennedy’s partner in TAUT and close friend Cash Askew died in a tragic accident in the Oakland Ghost Ship Fire of 2016. From the pain of the loss rose SRSQ. Kennedy’s emotive vocals and ambient synthesizers navigate through the experiences of reflection, acceptance and the possibility of hope as well as reconciling the unreal. SRSQ is for fans of acts such as Cocteau Twins, Slowdive and the Knife.
West coast synth-pop sensation Niff Nawor aka Riki joins the bill of labelmate SRSQ. If you’re into the Petshop Boys, 80s Madonna or Kate Bush, Riki’s hypnotic synth pop will be right up your alley. With two albums out, Riki has embarked on extensive tours both at home as well as internationally, sharing the bills with SRSQ and Choir Boy.
